Relive the adventure from our live Google+ Hangout on Air with underwater archaeologist Guillermo de Anda, from a sacred Maya cave. More than 1,000 years ago, ancient Maya visited this cave for the sacred waters inside, building a large stone pyramid and carving a ladder that Guillermo and his team use to this day. Also joining were paleontologist Jørn Hurum and geo-archaeologist Beverly Goodman, as well as public participants in Texas and Manchester, England. To find out about future Hangouts, follow Nat Geo on Google+.

Just because there's a structure built underground with a lot of work involved does not automatically mean there was a good reason to build it. Like the Chinese emperor who had a huge underground tomb made for him with a huge life-size army of warriors. The servants committed suicide so they could serve him in the afterlife. A lot of work went into it, a lot of people died for it, but there was no good reason for it.

Boy! Sure glad I didn't have to see some 1000 year old man-cave. It was way more interesting to watch a bunch of 20 somethings talk about a 1000 year old man-cave, for sure.
