  • @karlssonm, remember that the LS7 camshaft has a 121 degree lobe separation angle. Even with the 454's 1.8:1 rockers, that's still going to be pretty tame. We did another truck with a 117 degree LSA and still pretty high lift and duration numbers and it was quite streetable. Comp has so many sticks to choose from, it may be best to go aftermarket for your cam choice.

  • ALSO, the camshaft that comes in this engine has very long duration. The camshaft is very inefficient under 3200 RPM and this makes 'streetable' FI tuning very difficult.

  • We have installed several of these engines, both in FI and Carbureted applications. The FI version requires you to use the LS7 intake manifold. The LS7 Corvette manifold is very short for hood clearance and therefore has very short runners. It is unable to feed the necessary air to this engine and limits power to under 600. The carbureted manifold is very large and has BIG LONG runners, aiding in airflow and allowing the engine to reach it's full potential.

  • Wowza man that thing is mean!

  • Sounds like a Ford Tractor..

  • @hccperformance You are pro!!! add me to friends if you can... amazing

  • I just got wood!

  • @hccperformance thanks fore the answer

even with the "ltame" ls7 camshaft i will have att least 550hp

and i think i can live with that

and efituning would work out very easy

  • What if you do FI version and install ITB's.. Would that give the engine enough air to reach better potential?

  • I love the look of this beast! Congrats on a unique and gorgeous build. But what kind of front belt system is that off of, what kind of a/c compressor and what did you use to hide the coil packs and control them? I ask this because i am dropping in a carbed LQ4 in my 81 C10.

  • @hccperformance im thinking of bying this motor but i think i will change the camshaft to an ls7 camshaft to tame it a little bit

  • @dannyboyemt i know ive gotten more power out of efi setups and less, depending on the tune. I still say a properly tuned efi set up is going to outperform a carbed set up from personal experiance. Efi is a lot better on fuel, easier start ups, more consistant, less wasted fuel, i much prefer it over carbs.
