Doctor Adam Smith wrote that the STATE should protect everyone's property with equal zeal, and with equal measures.

Equal protection under the law is the principle of Free Enterprise, not from each according to his ability to each according to their need.

The invisible hand was not openly utilized by Doctor Adam Smith, the way the good Professor insinuates. Professor Parenti disparages “unbridled unregulated” competition, but does not mention that this is the exact opposite of our current ordeal of monopoly command economics. Doctor Smith’s favored term was avarice and he used it in distain, in alarm, and as a warning of things to come.
