Tsem Tulku Rinpoche's VERY IMPORTANT teaching given in 1998.

The heart of Buddhist wisdom in eight short verses, elucidated by a fearless pioneer of contemporary Dharma.

Unconditional love and freedom are here and now if we let go of self-centred obsession and let ourselves be embraced by WHAT IS.

The very life we are living, with all its difficulties, failures and frustrations, can be the road to liberation. The world can be our school of transformation. Everybody becomes our best friend. We become our own best friend.

Deeper and deeper, from learning to cherish all beings as precious, to realising that those we perceived as enemies are our supreme teachers, the teachings in this book take us, into our innermost heart where we discover that we are the light we have been longing for.

  • If someone is hitting you or screaming in your ear, or a friend is abusing you, are you just suposed to tollerate it and never complain about it??? I'M CONFUSED!!

  • If Rinpoche says so - I will follow all the way because he knows better.

  • Merits that arise due to us doing actions free of the eight worldly concerns is inexhaustible until we become enlightened.

  • When medicines no long work , when our doctors give up on us , when whatever I do is futile only the dharma can be of benefit to us.

  • Tsem Rinpoche actually thanks the participants for attending the talk ,how humble is the lama. But it shows in Malaysia, Buddhism is not deeply rooted as the people do not know the benefits of the dharma, those people should be thanking the lama for getting more knowledge and wisdom to fight samsara.

  • Rinpoche told the story of how all the masters in Nalanda were asked by someone to compose manjushri prayers. And all the prayers turned out to be the same through manjushri inspiration during the night despite the thousands of monks not consulting one another. .

  • Practicing the 8 verses well is a path of enlightenment thats what Rinpoche mentioned in this talk.

  • Someone who is accomplished in tantra one can use afflictive emotions with Bodhicitta to tame sentient beings, though he has no afflictive emotions himself . Nice.

  • Lama Atisha is such a great practitioner to bring an old monk to Tibet who constantly criticizes him throughout. And Lama Atisha even served the old monk despite the old monk disturbing even when Lama Atisha was teaching .

  • Whenever we meet people who are ill tempered we need to treat them like a previous jewel. When we meet such beings it is like giving a meter for us to check our level, if we are disturbed it gives us a measure of our self cherishing
