http://www.thegentledentist.com Dr. Antolak who practices in Shelby Twp. Michigan provides many different services, avoiding returned trips to specialists. In fact it is appreciated by his patients that they can have all of their care done in one location. Periodontal surgery is no exception.
Recession of the gum tissues takes place from either aggressive tooth brushing, thin gum tissue that is prone to shrinking or the bone loss associated with periodontal (gum) disease.
The gum tissues in the mouth provide an impermeable barrier for the bacteria to get into the bone and blood steam. The attached tissues next to the teeth provide this barrier and if it is lost there are is a risk of infection and tooth loss. This video shows a grafting procedure that is used to create more of this barrier tissue.

The Gentle Dentist provides General and Cosmetic Dental Services to the communities of Detroit, Sterling Heights, Macomb, Shelby Township, Clinton Twp, Warren, Washington, Chesterfield and New Baltimore Michigan and across Macomb County and Oakland County, Michigan

  • the post op directions are to rinse with peridex for about 3 weeks, to not brush the area for this time. at about 4 weeks the sutures are removed and she can start brushing.

  • The reason why the grafting procedure is typically done on the outside is that is the area where recession usually takes place from aggressive tooth brushing. IT is possible to do this though in the area on the linguals of the teeth. Are you in the area for me to do an exam to see why the area was so painful when eating the pretzel?

  • Hello,

I'm a Dental Hygiene student, and for an assignment, I had to watch a perio surgery. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me. The first one is "What are the post operative instructions for the client?" The second question is "When is the follow-up evaluation of this surgery, and what will be done at that time?"

    Thank you for your time,

    Ms. Dental Hygiene Student

  • Hello,

I always see this surgery done for the visible front of the teeth. Can this surgery be done for the inner (non-visible) teeth?

I have recession on my outer and inner lower incisors. Last week, I was eating pretzel sticks, when I bit down, the pretzel posted in my mouth and pinched off a big chuck of my gum on my lower inner incisor. Can this surgery be done on my inner (non-visible) lower incisor?

  • @baley36 I need to get this done too.My gum line is low and bleeds easily.

I had a friend do it and it does hurt for a few days and you can't eat solids either.

Let me know how it went for you! I'm getting it done August 12th

  • hhhmmmm,it really didnt hurt exept for the little needle inside ur mouth, that stinged a little.and i hate this putty inside my mouth, its soo bittery!!!,is it going to hurt takeing the stiches off???
