  • How sad they cut the "gage throwing" sequence from this scene (or rather, it seems they decided to not include it in this production.

  • The prophesy of the carnage and battles resulting from the unlawful disposition of King Richard II made by the bishop is a very brilliant interpretation of the upcoming Wars of the Roses, about which Shakespeare wrote his famous York tetralogy; and when Richard abdicates he suddenly behaves like a king, when he contemplates his follies past and the treason of his former henchmen; it is strange: When Fortuna was gracious to him he was a lewd boy but in misery he turned royal inward and outward.
