Assisted Suicide Broadcasted Live (TROLL)

The story behind this:

Billionaire Alki David has paid the family of terminal brain cancer patient Nikolai Ivanisovich for the rights to stream his assisted suicide on BattleCam. The broadcast is slated to air on July 29, 2011 at 9 pm ET from a secret location in Eastern Europe.

Ivanisovich will receive a lethal injection, administered by a physician who has decided to remain anonymous. The doctor doesn't want their identity revealed because of the "mitigating circumstance and likely media attention this event may generate."

During an interview held in Russia, Ivanisovich said he's "grateful to Mr. David and his team for making this possible. My family will be able to live in prosperity after I pass. May God bless Mr. David for his kindness and generosity."

Of the broadcast, David, a digital media entrepreneur and shipping magnate, said during an interview in his home on the Greek isle of Spetses that he's "creating a new form of interactive special interest with Battlecam's unique voting system. The online audience will actually vote whether they want to see the suicide or not." Battlecam is a reality TV website that broadcasts a variety of live events to a wide range of audiences.

David, who founded Battlecam.com and FilmOn.com, acknowledged that there are moral questions that will come out of the broadcast. He added that "I find nothing wrong with this at all. Death is a fact of life and physician assisted suicide in the United States is legal in the States of Oregon, Montana and Washington." David, who has also written, directed, starred in and produced feature films, added that physician-assisted suicide is also legal in such countries as Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg. He said these countries "recognize the importance (of) each individual's right to end their life, free of terminal pain."
