Thank you so much for uploading this video! Simply amazing! Love these two!!!

Sensational! one of the very best was Shicoff in the role.
-
Even in a staged performance you hardly see this kind of passion anymore. Looks to me like even La Baltsa was slightly taken aback.
-
Gorgeous performance - they created so much tenseness on the stage!
Thank you for uploading!

@Kievest I agree with you 100%. I've been a fan of Neil for many years.

Neil Schicoff is for me the best Don Jose. So incredibly moving and beautiful. Heart rending.. how could her heart not break? What a great musical artist. I aggree with an earlier comment ..this is what Opera is about.. the essence of it.

You can't find this kind of emotion & passion in the singing of today's opera singers. In the 21st century opera world, opera singers obsess with technique. They wish only to be vocal athletes who stand there & sing". Nobody cares because they look good standing too. But opera is drama and should be sung as dramatically as Baltsa & Shicoff sing here. If only Callas had lived to train newer singers.

He manages to give an outstanding performance without going over the top, emotional and into his role with every note. He was 46 years old. Bravo!
Neil Schicoff is a fabulous actor who
sings the heart of any role as the
composer intended. Baltsa's imperious
Carmen is a good match for him.
Thank you.
