This is the last song my best friend sent to me the day he took his life. 4 years ago today. Ive only ever listened to it twice. I wish so much id listened harder the first time.

The breathless delivery and yes, the scratching of fingernails across strings as another poster so aptly put it, lend an intimacy to this song that just whupped me upside the head. It's so very rare to find the power crunch and the feeling of sitting across from the artist telling you about someone he loves (I'm assuming) in the same song.
Yeah, love this song, even more now than when it was first released.

Pete Townshend is a genius and so is Bob. He's a post punk master of all that is brilliant. Oh, yeah and he's my age. Suck on that all you crappy nowhere bands of today's radio-dial.

@SuperMatschbirne I've been spending the last quarter century trying to spread the word. It's personally gratifying when it works. I've always been a Who fan and of the writings of Pete Townshend. I see some similarities between the two.

Hüsker Dü, Sugar, his solo stuff... Bob wrote so many great songs and yet he's completely unkown to most people. It's a shame.
