Poem by Chris Kessler
Music by Chris Kessler
Poem turned into lyrics and Mushing Together by Allie Smith

These people inspired the writing of this poem and it's eventual progression into a song:

John Green!!! "Looking for Alaska"
Simon Bolivar: "How will I ever get out of this labyrinth?"
Francois Rabelais: "I go to seek a great perhaps."

Keep commenting and watching!!

DFTBA,
Allie

LYRICS

At night time stops
There is no silly banter
This I tell you is fact
There is no time

Clocks run but clocks are man made
Destined to have faults
My life has faults, it's man made
Because I make it

Tonight I found meaning
A name for my search
The end of a beginning
Beginning of the end
Get lost between and unwind
Tonight I leave me behind
It doesn't matter, time won't lapse
I go to seek a great perhaps

There is a labyrinth
I intend not to escape it
Not yet at least
I want to feel it's walls

I want to see the corners
And contemplate the turns
I want to see the dead ends
It's only a maze I learn

Tonight I found meaning
A name for my search
The end of a beginning
Beginning of the end
Get lost between and unwind
Tonight I leave me behind
It doesn't matter, time won't lapse
I go to seek a great perhaps

Tonight I found meaning
A name for my search
The end of a beginning
Beginning of the end
Tonight I leave myself
It doesn't matter, time won't lapse
I go to seek a great perhaps

I will learn
I will plan
And I will walk out
With not a single wrong turn

---end---

  • She is beautiful. Stunning. And her voice...truly unreal. The lyrics are so methodical and the music composition has such a "Looking for Alaska" tone, this is honestly up to par with the book. If this story ever becomes a movie, record a master version of this song and send it to the studio - it would go SO well with the scene where Takumi and Pudge are setting off the fireworks and running like hell.

  • wow , chris amazing track , did u record a studio version ?? , did u write the lyrics urself ? , i know its based on the novel but great work man ,

i compose music as welll more of a piano man but the tempo at the beginning when u guys messed up was alot better than u ended up recording . it was on a 85 mp

  • It is nice though the sound was better with the guitar further away from the mic, love the lyrics

  • I believe you need a microphone for the vocals the music over powers a bit. Great Job, thumbs up

  • She's got a real nice voice, there! Really powerful lyrics and driving tone to the music. I like it. Lots.

I'm marathoning allll of your videos, now. I've an expectation of excellence, and strong hunch that expectations will be exceeded. :D

  • her voice is really amazing.

i love this book, looking for alaska, and ive been fixated on the phrase"a great perhaps" ever since, i really loved this, thank you for creating it

Excellent job; kudos on getting John's nod of approval.
