June Carter "I'm Alright Now"

June Carter comes out and does a little bit of comedy with her sister, Anita and then-husband, Carl Smith. Then her family joins her and they sing the song "I'm Alright Now"; Chet Atkins plays guitar.

Note: At the time June and Carl were seperated, which may explain their exchange.

LOL "Is that what that was?!" "Well, June you don't want a toothpick do ya?"  I will agree, both girls are marvelous, but June is by far my favourite in comedy and in singing. Her delivery in comedy is great. Thanks so much for posting! Is it possible to get this on like dvd with more episodes on them?

It looks to be around 55-56. The tapes don't have any dates so that's as good as I can guess. I know she recorded "I'm Alright Now" in '56.

Thanks for putting this on. June was soooooo funny!!!!!!!!!!!! June was great. Even though I'm 14 I know alot about The Carter Family. Even A.P And Sara. Who started all this.

Judging from the lyrics of the song, she is saying he made a mistake but they've reconciled and put his dalliance in the past. The face that June would air their problems out in song and disrespect him on stage is probably the main reason their marriage was not one made in heaven. Notice how he took umbrage at her using his name and her response. Totally dismissive and uncaring.

In the end Carl found a wife who was willing to take a back seat and she a husband she could submit to.

I'm thirteen and I love June Carter and all of em. They should real class and resilience. I just read the book that her son wrote about her. There was a story about her pickin up the phone and then talkin for about an hour and when Roseanne (Cash's daughter) asked who it was, she said it was a wrong number. She's an amazing woman.
