Maralal Disarmament

Insecurity in Samburu district has paralyzed learning with more than ten schools now facing closure. The schools have been deserted as teachers and pupils flee attacks from cattle rustlers. The few pupils left in the villages are no longer attending classes as panicked parents keep them at home. This comes even as the government urges those in possession of firearms to take advantage of the extended amnesty period and surrender illegal firearms before the one month ultimatum expires.
