LIFE, DEAL WITH IT, LIVE!
SYNOPSIS
By Cullen Knight

Jazz singer and nightclub owner Christine Cross refuses to accept the military's conclusion that her husband, Joey, whose plane was shot down in Vietnam in 1973, is Missing In Action and presumed dead. She initiates a relentless personal and civil crusade to prove that the government's decision is unfounded. Her denial and persistence develops into an obsession that leads to a mental breakdown and her hospitalization.

After a short stay at the State Hospital, Chris comes home and returns to work at the Chris Cross Club. She tones down her campaign against the government, but still maintains that Joey is alive and refuses to get on with her life. The Factors of Life—Difficult(Difv), Intricate(Kitt), Marvelous(Marv), and Hard Times materialize. They are involved in a power struggle for the controlling influence in Chris's life.

Marv prevails for a while and Chris enters a carefree fantasy world. Unfortunately, this ideal make-believe world is a nonproductive temporal prison. Her only way out and back to reality is through her former lover Carter Sinclair.

Carter, a successful attorney and confirmed bachelor, has never truly stopped loving Chris. When he finds out that he has a terminal illness, attributed to his exposure to chemicals while serving in Vietnam, he decides to put all of his affairs in order.

Chris and Carter were lovers in college before her marriage to Joey. The affair was never formally ended. They have blamed each other unjustly for their abortive love affair for more than a decade. Circumstances bring them together at the Chris Cross Club along with a host of real and imaginary characters...
