at 2.45 there is a woman looking like a giant! i know she's probly about 5'7 or 5'8 because I have been in mexico and have seen some locals, I'm 6'1 and went into a store in cozumel off the beatten path (no-tourist) and all the people there were about waist high! I wondered what they though of me as I ducked through the low doorway? lol

Chichicastenango está de 6 a 8 horas en bus de la ciudad capital de Guatemala, es donde hay mas indigenas en el pais, hasta en los años 80 aun era aprox el 60% de la poblacion,  pero ha reducido a 35% con la cantidad de extrangeros que se han quedado en el pais.

Es una pena que muchos blancos y mestizos marginan al indigena, deberian de haber leyes severas que prohiban el racismo en el pais.

It's a wonderful market. A bit strong on the touristy stuff, but that's where the money is. It also has sections that specialize in things of more interest to Guatemalans who come for food, clothing, music.

And the amazing thing is that despite all the activity on market days, the next day when you walk the streets, all the people, all the merchandise, all the trash will be gone, and Chichi will be, once again, a quiet, slow-moving town of about 10,000.
