I am not trying to be mean, but I think roller skating is very slow and a tad bit heavy footed. Why not Figure skating?? It's much more graceful and the jumps and spins are faster and light on the feet. Artistically it is a better sport as well. The pairs events are amazing.

have you ever watched figure roller skating..? believe me... its very fast. artistically, its exactly the same as ice. same jumps, same spins.. and its with a heavier boot because of the wheels. making jumps and spins harder to do because of the extra weight..

Its actually my daughter skating.. :) they still do comps, tho had a year off to improve skill level. next comp is the national championships...

Both ice and roller figure skating can be graceful, but I guess roller skating is harder as you have four wheels weighing your skates down instead of a thin, light blade to jump with.

As someone who used to figure skate on ice I tried to do some of the jumps I did on ice at a roller rink once, and even though I've won some gold and silver medals as an ice skater I could not do any of the jumps at the roller rink as the skates were too heavy for me.

Im a figure skater.. i love the thought of being able to roller skate.. i just havent got anywhere local to do roller skating.

to be completly honest with you, very sport is graceful, but there graceful in differant ways

Ugh, I'm getting tired of people saying that roller skating is not graceful. It looks pretty graceful to me!

Watch Tanja Romano or Estefania Allegri and then tell me roller skating is slow.

I wouldn't say it is artistically 'better' at all, it's different.

Pairs are amazing in roller skating, too.

Also, figure skating is ridculously expensive in comparison to roller. Plus in Britain, it's not that popular, therefore there's a definite lack of places to ice skate. Roller skating can be done outside or in most any sports rink.

guess what i used to art roller skate and it is fast and dificult and if u watch like world champions and stuff it doesnt look choppy. I think u people are just jealous we do jumps and stuff
