The idea is a finding a balance. It is prudent to have some fear/forethought, but when this thought process gets out of control it can be a very self-limiting mentality. Most of us live in fear of too many things outside of our control. Taking a moment to self reflect and reexamine these tendencies can be very empowering. That's all.

Fear has nothing to do with natural selection... Intellect does. The prediction you talk about needs intellect and not emotion. If you make emotional predictions then it will lead to fear.... Most of the scientific hypothesis that is put forth is not emotional. So fear has no part to play in the scenario you have mentioned.
