A quick test (warning: nothing exciting yet =) I did with the cam mounted on the tank. Even with sound setting on "low" I get an annoying vibration in the microphone. I now understand why so many put music over their videos...as much as I hate that...

  • Yeah I did, but just look around youtube, most motorcycle shots with gopro have music on them...because vibration and wind is an issue.

  • yep thats suction cup on the tank. I think the only way to really have great sound is a camera with external mic placed inside a backpack or something like that to completely avoid wind noise...unless of course you have a full fairing and can protect the camera from the wind...

  • yeah the image quality is quite nice, its the sound that dissapoints me a bit at certain RPMs there some parasite noise that takes over the motor sound...other then that Im pretty satisfied, Ill try to find a software to remove that parasite noise when I get an interesting clip to edit...

  • @Speedytrip It has been a year since you posted that, so have you found a software for that? :)

  • @lErssikeke

Nop :P I think the real problem is there is some movement in the parts inside the camera...so any vibration makes those parts cause that parasite sound...even the new HD GOPro has the same issue, you'd think they would have solved this by now. I think the best solution is still having an external mic, that you can put in a wind protected place.

  • @Speedytrip I have the same problem with my ContourGPS camera at any mounting location between 4000 and 5000 RPM. It must be the camera itself vibrating, I'm guessing. I can't hear the vibration sound at that RPM range besides in the camera.

  • Have a look at my Alpen2011 YT.

I put in a vid riding forward next days. I think, the sound is OK

  • @Speedytrip

Did you use the watertight back of the housing?

    That worked perfectly on mine.

    Wolle

  • Hey Speedy. Did you use the suction cup on the tank? Funny because I've got a Street Triple R and have started taking GoPro clips on that but using a helmet attachment and wanted to try eitehr the suction cup or the chest mount. Too much wind noise attached to the lid.

  • I just parked my 2011 Speed Triple ... I live in Canada ...

Thanks for the ride ! it was fun !

    :o)

  • work on getting an aftermarket exhaust first, something to actually hear! CRM low mount
