  • cheers 4 the vid//i just made a flow tank,,from what i seen of yours..what size pump r u usein,,????

  • Post a link to your tank when your finished. I'd like to see it.

There is about a 20x rated turnover rate in this river tank.

    Currently using-

    2 Eheim 2026 (600 gph)

    2 filstar xp3's (700 gph)

    2 filstar xp2's (600 gph)

    1 RIO pump (600 gph)

    1 Quiet One 4000 pump (1000 gph).

    total 3,500 gph / 160 gallons

  • and that helps the fish because?...

  • The water flows in one direction in a circle around the island. This allows the fish to swim at full speed continuously, so they don't have to stop or turn around. The fish will swim countless laps around the island. This tank set-up is kind of like a treadmill for fish.

  • soo, they cant just merrily swim around the tank, there kinda forced one way? not meaning it in a bad way, i understand what you mean, just seems a bit odd :S

  • You should watch my other video's, then maybe you'll understand this ecosystem.

This tank replicates swimming upstream and will promote breeding conditions. The water flow rate is variable and it changes depending on season. Also this is just one of the tanks. My fish can merrily swim around to another tank. It's not odd, it's just highly advanced aquatics.

  • that set up is also advantageous to simulate the natural conditions of some fish, for example i learned that its nearly impossible to keep crayfish from the local river alive unless they have rapidly moving water, and i hope to set up one soon because there are some monster crayfish in the local stream which are shades of brown and red that are about 12 inches long with massive claws, its awesome

  • nice set up!!!

  • oh, well good job then (y)
