"Habang Buhay" is a Kundiman composition by Miguel Velarde Jr. with lyrics written by Dominador Santiago. Interpreted by the coloratura soprano, Lilia Reyes under the music supervision of Leopoldo Silos.

LILIA REYES-AMORSOLO

b. Santa Maria, Bulacan 4 Nov 1936. Singer. Born to Jose and Pilar Reyes, she earned her associate in arts degree in music, major in voice, at the University of the Philippines cConservatory of Music. After majoring in voice and piano at the Philippine Women's University in 1955, she took further studies in Italy and Austria.

In 1958 she obtained her masters in music at the Conservatorio Nazionale Di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Reyes held 75 concert in France and performed in the international festivals of Spoleto, Salzburg, Autunno Napoletano, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Sentimana Senese, and Sagra Umbra.

She was a regular concert artist for radio Televizione Italiana, ORTF in Paris, and was featured on Radio ORF in salzburg and Vienna, BBC in London, Beligian Radio in bruxelles, CBS New York, Radio Mexicana, and Radio Vaticana. She was guest soprano in the revival of Donzietti's "Il Furioso Ai Isola de San Domingo" and Chailly's "Markheim", both under the direction of Gian Carlo Mennotti. She was soloist for conductors Carlos Maria Giullini, Zubin Mehta, Nino Sanzogno, Peter Maag, Raymond Leppard, Thomas Schippers, Jozef Krips, Mario Rossi, Massino Pradella, and Franco Ferra.

In 1969, Reyes took the lead in "Dularawan" (Drama Tableau), the inaugural presentation of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. She also performed at the inauguration of the National Arts Center of the Philippines in 1976. She was Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company's solo singer during its first world tour. In 1975 she became the first soprano to do a recording with the newly restored Las Pinas Bamboo Organ.

  • Tila narinig ko ito noong aking kabataan na inawit ni Elsa Oria. Marahil ay wala ng recording na naiwan si Elsa Oria

  • @MrEriesal: Hindi ko alam na may isinaplakang mga kundiman si Elsa Oria. Nagtataka rin ako kung saan na napunta ang daang-daang mga plaka na ni-released ng mga recording companies noon sa Pilipinas noong mga taong 1930's to 1940's. Hindi naman kapani-paniwalang nasira na lahat ng mga ito dahil sa WWII. Nariyan lang ang mga iyan, tinatago ng mga kolektor na IBIG PAGKAKITAAN ang mga kayamang ito ng bayan.

  • @philclassic ..hindi ko po malaman Gno. P.C. kung kailan...ako man ay naguguluhan, masyadong init daw sa atin at may brown-out.Dahil sa ngayon po ang internal thermostat ng sistema ko ay napundi narin po, baka d makayanan ang sobrang heat-wave.

(hehe joke)..isang lider ng bayan lamang ang natatandaan kong may pagmamalasakit sa ganda ng sariling kultura at musikang katutubong Filipino, siya ay si Ginang Imelda R. Marcos. Hindi ako Marcos Loyalist pero nasaksihan ko ang pagmamahal at pagpapahalaga ni Ginang Imelda sa ating Kultura.

  • @philclassic kasi ang musika raw ay isang impluwensiya ng pagiging agresib emosyunali ng isan individual!kung sweet ang myusik,sweet ang emosyon at pag rock naman rock din at kung medyo depressing gayun din ang epekto!hahahahaha.sana nga mabalik na ang kamay ng orasan,sa musika man lang eh mabawasan ang hinagpis ng Inang kalikasan!(dramatic ideology ba hahahaha)
