Series Synopsis

Local is an innovative, timely, and comprehensive review of American agriculture packaged into a good news documentary series. In piecing together the agricultural puzzle, Local examines the various methods of farming, from conventional to organic and beyond, shining light on innovations by modern-day pioneers in the field, and asking what is best for farmers, consumers, animals, and the earth. Agriculture is, at its root, about food, but it is also about water rights and land use, energy, animals, equity, and local, national, and global economies. Local digs into what role these parts play in making up the whole of agriculture today. Along the way, Local introduces viewers to urban and rural farmers, livestock ranchers, farmers market vendors, industrial processors and packagers, importers and exporters, and those that the agricultural industry affects: you, the people who eat.
