Fourty-nine years after the alliance. Jace and Clary's grandson, Jace, is going to the boarding school for Shadowhunters in Idris.
Alice, on the other hand, is a 12-year-old living in the St. Mary Orpahnage in New York, together with her best friend and "brother", Chris, who disappearedto a school nobody knows.
When she finds herself being hunted by Raveners, Jace saves her. Alice finds out that Chris is a Shadowhunter - and she's one, too. But it gets even worse for her:
There is a prophecy about her, saying she is Raziel's daughter and that Jace is going to kill her.
So what can you do, knowing that you're going to be able to talk to the death and that a good friend is going to kill you?
Right - you cause as much chaos at your new school as possible, find new friends, and make a pact with the Death.
