I'm think the soviets had defended it previously, beating the crap out of the japanese. seems they could have defended it. also pretty sure they knew they couldn't take it and wasn't worth it, as it wasn't as developed compared to other parts that were readily developed for the taking. all of the countries at the time were a bunch of imperialists looking to expand as was the US who I think had a hidden agenda that wasn't to do this publicised moral war of "good vs evil".

If the US hadn't been at war with Japan, the Soviets would have had vital soldiers and resources locked up in their eastern borders instead of using them against the Nazis... and the war would have dragged out a lot longer.

nope GioZakc is right, but all played a role. if the soviets in their very large numbers didn't help it woulda dragged out a LOT longer and the result likely would have been different.

That's brazilian second war. During XIX century the Empire of Brazil faced a war against Paraguay always called "The Great War" or "The Paraguay War". Allies were Argentina and Uruguay

I won't say you didn't contribute greatly (if you're from an ex USSR nation), but without a second front you would've faced another million or more soldiers which is kind of a big deal, along all the aircraft, naval vessels and tanks occupied against the american/british/brazilian/australian/canadian/french front.
