Panasonic invite AVForums to sample the new PT-AE3000 LCD projector, boasting 60,000:1 contrast and a neat 2.35:1 picture format feature, with no need to add an anamorphic lens.
I love this projector, and I'll probably be upgrading to it soon. One thing I don't understand is - the pt-ax200u has 2000 lumens but it only costs $999. Why do 1080p projectors have such a low lumen rating? 1600 isn't bad, but you would think that for $2,500, the lumen count would higher - at least 2000.
Well you don't need to use all the pixels as it would not be pixel perfect if it did. The 2.35 feature is a zoom, but it does block the black bars on the top and the bottom internally so the light does not bleed through, giving a pucnhier picture.
Sounds like the 2.35:1 feature is just a memorized zoom, not an actual 2.35:1. So you will have black bars bleeding over the top and bottom of your 2.35:1 screen and you still won't be using all of the pixels of the lcd panels. Kind of a bummer. You can get the same effect by zooming in any projector to fit a 2.35:1 screen. Other than that, this projector will be bad ass.
This is a great projector from Panasonic.

I like my movies at 24 fps. Is the 100hertz feature an option or does it automatically apply that function to every image?
