Alan Meyer was one of the earliest (and most say , the First,) to bring an entire show to the stage in Honor of his mentor Elvis Presley. He even had the dubious title of being called "King of the Impersonators", a title he did not hold in too high esteem. He always liked to be referred to as a Tribute to Elvis, and not an Impersonator. Alan started his show in 1972 several years prior to Elvis' death and was often linked to other Elvis impersonators such as Johnny Harra, Rick Saucedo and a handful of others. It was Alan though who was managed by Dick Clark and who was essentially the one that all others looked to as perhaps the Best of that time. Of course, many others have come down the pike since Alan's Heyday when he appeared on many major TV shows such as the Jerry Lewis Telethon, The Donny and Marie Show , The Tonight Show and also toured Internationally with major stops in Japan, Europe, South Africa and Canada. Alan retired in 1978 with the exception of a few contractual dates and didn't tour again until 1982 when he formed a new band and played again in Las Vegas at The Dunes and also the Riviera and in shows throughout Texas , Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Alan retired again in 1991 and with the exception of a few small shows , he never really recaptured the momentum of his early days when he was touted as the richest and most successful of all the Tribute Artists of those days.

**This was a video from 2000 when Alan sang along to Karaoke tracks for the Oil Baron's Ball, a One off performance**

    thanks for posting

    i remember alan

always wondered what happened to him..now i know..

  • Glad you enjoyed this. I hope to eventually get more footage of Alan when I get it converted from VHS to digital format. I was his guitarist from 1982 -1991, so I do have some footage around, just haven't had the time to give it the care it deserves.

  • Nice looking guy good, but nothing ,not even close to being Elvis' voice or looks sorry

  • I remember seeing this guy in Vegas, He is so so so short, must be at least 5FT.

  • as one of Elvis' biggest fans I recognise you as the Real Deal when it comes to Elvis and teling his story.

  • After all these years your still great and your voice has even more Presley Magic!

  • Starting today you can view most of my 1977 Tropicana video by searching as follows: Alan - 1 1977 through Alan - 15 1977 where each number will sequentially step you through the songs from that performance

    Sincerely Alan

  • I saw Alan in Toronto in 1971 doing Elvis and he was amazing and still is

  • I saw Alan in Denver in 1975 or 76. He did an awesome tribute to Elvis, changing costumes for the different times in Elvis life. He was a really good performer and the videos don't show the true picture, but they sure bring back memories. Thanks for posting these. They're great.

  • Great flim !
