the pacific | forget the horror here

WATCH IN HD! "there are things men can do to one another that are sobering to the soul. it is one thing to reconcile these things with god, but another to square it with yourself."

so i've worked on this for over 3 weeks, almost daily, and i gotta say - this has been one of the toughest but also most rewarding experiences i've ever had with vidding so far. i really do hope you enjoy this, even if you don't know the fandom, cause this show and this video has meant alot to me personally. :)

oh god, this show. it's such a brutal, gritty and most of all realistic portrayal of war, how it changes people and makes them loose all sense of humanity and empathy. it's dark and it's violent and most of the time i feel like breaking down when i watch it, but at the same time it's incredibly giving and most of all educational. most of us always hear about ww2 from the european side, with hitler and germany etc, but exactly how much do we hear from the pacific side? about all the long, excruciating battles fought there and all the men from both sides of the war that lost their lives? not enough. which is why this 10part miniseries is so incredibly important and poignant. Anyway, rant over. it's heart-aching and powerful and beautifully shot, and also amazingly directed and acted SO GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW!

i tried to include everyone and everything equally, but you can easily see that i am biased. tp was definatly the best when sledge was at the center, and his light/dark dynamic with snafu was so compelling and interesting. while I loved both leckie and basilone equally, their storyline's didn't resonate with me as powerfully as the last few eps with sledge. also joe mazello and rami malek really delivered incredible acting performances which i'm sure they'll be remembered for a long, long time.

ALSO this is dedicated to lis because if it weren't for her, i would have never fallen in love with pacific as hard as i did. we've laughed and cried and screamed our throats out and both been on the verge of dying from heartbreak because of this show and it's been so much fun. lis, i love you. thanks for enduring my essay long analyzes of sledge and the war and human psyche etcetc. you're the best.
