@sylveskyl The knocking/vibration continues even when only the crank pulley is turning. The high pitched squeaking is coming from the alternator.

Take the serpentine belt off and check your water pump mine just made the same sound its a 98 3.8l and the water pump bearings went bad

@sylveskyl Oil pressure hovers around half way (I haven't looked in some time.) but the needle jerks violently up and down when you rev the engine and when it starts. Oil in the car looks to be fresh and new and it has plenty of it.
