  • Shes great she also did a guest appearance on Starsky and Hutch , she plays a country singer being stalked, her singing knocked me out on that show so i went looking for her music.

    Well, if you've never heard any of the pre-Lynn Anderson versions of Rose Garden, I strongly recommend them.

    You're right, they were not hits, but they were great nonetheless. The rocking original by Joe South(though some say Billy Joe Royal did it first, even though South wrote it), is well worth it, but my favorite pre-Lynn version of "Rose Garden" is the version by Dobie Gray,who does it in a grooving soulful style. It was followed by The Three Degrees' version, which echoed Gray's

  • @cmulwee001 It was very common in the '70s to fill up albums w/covers of the current hits of the days, which is what this song was. Lynn never released it as a single ... just an album filler. Although, I love her version of this song. You're correct, "Rose Garden" was actually recorded by 6 or 7 ppl prior to Lynn's '71 version, however, none of those previos version became a hit. Hers, as we all know, was beyond a hit ... it was a mega, monster hit. #1 in 16 countries worldwide.

  • Never knew how many cover songs this woman did. As we all know, John Denver did this song originally. And her signature tune "Rose Garden" was originally by Joe South.
