Veil - Jack Straw and the problem with the Veil

Jack Straw (UK labour politician) has asked Muslim women to uncover their faces when attending his surgery, which has fired up a debate on the issue of the Muslim veil in public. He says the veil hinders communication. I believe it takes away one's identity. But there is something much deeper that needs to be addressed here. Why are Muslim women asked by Allah to cover their faces, if the problem is really that of their men-folk? How does covering the women up deal with the sin in their men's hearts?

They are doing this due to their own inner lusts not because of any fault of women. Because they have lust in their own hearts they think that by making women cover their body will stop it but they need to examine their own hearts not force women to suffer because of their inner lustfullness toward them

@irishxxkelt muslim all scholars agree that the face and hands need not be covered. if they do it is their choice. what u just said proves my point how rules in christianity changes.Nuns and sisters wear those clothes as a sign of their consecration to God. but now some say, oh u only need a pendant for that, any types of clothes are fine. in a few decades, ppl wud be fine with nuns wearing mini skirts ey?

@azalea411 Nuns never ever covered their facs and most nuns in Ireland have given up the veil and wear skirts and blouses and cardgians and anoraks!
