Ok this not truly a debate between an atheist and a pastor, but it is an atheist saying all the things to a pastor that would piss him off. A classic battle of jerk vs. joke, but who's the jerk and whos the joke in this one?

  • These kinds of calls do not help religious folks understand reason, it just makes them defensive. We can show reason without being jackasses about it.

  • @losghost 1st: the call was made as a joke to piss this guy off nothing more. 2nd: telling people how to act because YOU feel it is the right way is just as ignorant as any religion telling u how to act. So u should try to be more selfaware of hypocritical behavior. 3rd: u honestly think using reason has any ability to change their core beliefs in a god? U ever try reason with someone who is religious? Have u ever converted them? Probably not core beliefs typically cant be changed no matter what

  • @jesusinadumptruck I'm dictating to anyone how to act, I am suggesting an alternate method to achieve ones aims.

Do I think a strongly indoctrinated person would change their core beliefs? Probably not, but this was a call in to a show, with other people watching that may either be trying to affirm their beliefs because they are on the fence or doubtful. This degree of immaturity would not bring them to your side.

I have reasoned with people and had them view things they hadn't thought of.

  • @losghost See I think we just have a different goal here. I dont care if I convert people. Im not on some anti-religious mission to prove my case so others believe what I do. I could give a shit less if in my attempt to mock someone who is riding the fence to jump on the other side. Im secure enough in my belief system that I dont feel the NEED to convince others. This NEED to get others to be on your side is what plagues all belief systems today. I am better than that! I just live and let live.

  • @jesusinadumptruck You clearly didnt get what he's trying to tell you. The core problem here is that it simple does not matter whether you are an atheist or a theist. If you were to live with this mindset rather than the one that you're in you would understand what it means to reason. If a fundamentalist christian refuses to see this exact same kind of reason then its the fundamentalist christian's problem. The only person who can help someone see reason is them self.

  • @Booredyeah It didn’t sound like that in lostghost’s post, but now I do agree with what you said at the end of this posting. The difference between mine and lostghosts approach is I don’t care if I (or a friend of mine in this case) chase this guy into a corner with reason. We will never change his mind or anyone who is as dedicated as he is, so what is the point of trying. Back when this video was made we were just after a laugh and funny sound bites. To many peoples opinions we succeeded.

Yea sure, God made a mistake by putting a shitty tree in his garden that gave Eve the opotrunity to turn the world to shit. God made a mistake by creting Eve, when instead he should have made some other bitch that wouldnt have ate the apple. God was wrong when he had Jesus tell us that if we pray and believe it to be true and that our prayer has been answered, we shall receive what we pray for. Ok, go on, let me hear your made up excuses as to why i'm wrong !

You'll find that the book is in the religious category, possibly mythology depending on where you live. What your opinion is, is completely irrelevant to the facts. And that goes for anything else that you have said.

  • @losghost They are a very difficult crowd to reason with as you may know. I'm not sure you can ever win against these types. The fact that they have such a large audience is scary. I worked with a baptist freak who's church probably all believed that David Suzuki was a fraud!! I think that if you don't make fun of these wacks you'd cry. Cause I don't see it possible to win against these "dyed in the wool" as Dawkins calls them.

  • @josh1988ist typical defensive insecure "believer" i've seen them many times. they vomit on everyone.

  • What? No top comment for Nine Inch Nails? & no one cares...

  • @shagoosty Ah see being married to a fairly jealous woman I have to enjoy boobs covertly. So while I admit the True Blood is crap she seems to dig it and I get to see boobs.

  • @Richardisdorky I'm a film major, so I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to movies and stories. Throwing in boobs does not make a good tv show or movie in my mind, especially since I have the internet and can see boobs whenever I want. Or just go to a club.

  • @shagoosty Did I mention the boobs. Do you not like boobs? It's alright if you don't but I think that boobs are a pretty entertaining and a big selling point.

  • @shagoosty Well it appears you have much better taste then I. So this one for what it's worth puts you in the right. Well plaid my friend, well plaid.
