I loved this suite. The first band piece I ever played (or at least tried to play) was "Bells Across the Meadow" That was 44 yrs ago!

@jetsstate My middle School Wind Ensemble is playing this song.

The "advanced" orchestra at my school played that this year. I would sit in on some of there rehersals just so I could listen to this song. So brilliant.

Remember, of the students on these instruments, many go on to L.D. Bell High School, a nationally-recognized school for its terrific music program. The students in this school district receive some of the finest secondary-level music training in America.

Great rendition of this great piece by a JHS band!
I played this at the Usdan Center for the Performing Arts many, many (36) years ago. It introduced me to playing really good music and to Ralph Vaughan Williams, whom I adore to this day.
Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories.
u guys have to read that it is an honors band, so its the best kids in that area, but its still very good

@jetsstate - Yeah, this group was comprised of select players in 4 Hurst-Euless-Bedford junior high schools (14-15 year-olds). This group rehearsed only one time, the day of the concert, much like how they did all-region band rehearsals back then.

Good for you. Not many middle school bands play it, because after all, it is listed as a class 5 piece (highest) if you play all of the movements. You must have a great band program like I did. :)
