From the awesome Digital Press forums (which if your into Classic gaming is a must!)
http://www.digitpress.com/index.htm

Description from their archives:

Mindscape by Data Age was a cardboard record that could be obtained directly from the company (who in turn is fairly notorious for a bunch of crummy Atari 2600 games). Their earliest games are
particularly bad, and this dramatization of them only amplifies that. "Got... to.... find... the...
HATCH KEY!" It's campy fun! The record was created by Craig Hundley, who wrote the electronic music for the movies Star Trek II, The Black Hole, Firefox, and MegaForce. Hundley also created audio
effects for Bruce Springsteen and John Lennon. A picture of Hundley can be found in the Nov. 1983
issue of Electronic Fun with Computers & Games magazine.

Publisher: Data Age

Scarcity: 7

$25 (L)oose or (C)omplete: L

Description: A seriously psychedelic videogame record that was available through Data Age. Plugging
their products with hammy actors and actresses, you might get an idea of what the games were about,
but certainly not their poor quality. Classic line from this record: "The hatch
key....got...to...find...the hatch key". Collector's: don't go looking in the 45 RPM section for this
one - it's on a flexi-disc with cardboard backing, like the kinds you used to get in cereal boxes in
the 70's.

  • First: I'm going to go to game stop and ask for Data age games, and when I get told to pull my head out the 80's than I'm going to tell them to pull their heads out of their asses,LOL, just kidding, I had to.

Second, I noticed a Microsoft xbox 360 RF adapter there on your shelf, are you controlling your computer via a 360 wirless controller like me? I love it, it is so convient.

  • Good eye, yes I do have a wireless 360 pad for my PC. I do all my "modern" gaming on PC. For the longest time I was happy using my PS2 pad plugged into an USB adaptor but I had been getting some games that just would not work right with it, after getting the wireless 360 pad those games all worked perfect so it was well worth it.

  • Holly shit dude for a second there I thought you where going to tell us that this was a record, you rigged up to the tape deck of computer "X" and played it to download a game to play. Could you imagine that?

  • lol well your certainly more imaginative than I!

  • You dont own a recordplayer? Shame on you Rob ;) But man, that is a rather trippy format! Dont think I've seen those soundsheets over here, but.. All I can say is "wow". Flexible translucent vinyl? Its the future of yesteryear!

  • I was never really much of a record collector but like everyone I had a phase as a kid. Could kick myself for the stuff I got rid of though! I had Bob and Doug McKenzie Great White North Album AUTOGRAPHED for instance DOH!

  • "STAY AWAY FROM MEEeee!!!"

  • Thanks, it was a spur of the moment thought but those are usually my best lol!

  • Heh, well I sold my most perfect one on Chasethechuckwagon (now Gamegavel) for $15. Of course I was hoping for more but that is how it goes. I have two left, they are in fact pretty durable, both go back in a folder now. I might not of showed it if I could not let you all hear it, that would just be creul lol!
