@tommartyn yeah, now that i think about it, his did have front suspension because i would always want to ride it, my 84 125m didnt :/

Yeah man, they seem like really awesome machines. It looks like the 82's didn't have front suspension, so that would be the way to tell. decal's are probably different too.

Hey tom, my friend just bought a 82 185s for 200 in basically perfect condition, it makes a weird clunkin noise goin slow and it sounds alot like the chain being loose and smackin around in the chaincase, ive never worked on trikes (yet) so im not so sure about how to tighten the chain and im pretty sure ur the guy to ask, i have a feeling that the theres oil in the chaincase but i dont wanna find out with oil all over the shop floor, could u please give me some tips, thanks

Freaking awesome man. Good deal! Yeah, thats probably the chain being really stretched. and the rear sprocket might be crazy worn out too. that happens over the years, and the teeth bend somtimes, grab the chain, and make it hit the chain case even more. Or just wears the teeth off, and the chain can skip. But yeah, there's no oil in there, the only oil is the engine/trans oil (same). The chain guard is just to keep dirt/sand off the chain.

@tommartyn the price of everything here has been dropping down like crazy cuz of this shit weather, if ur ever in wisconsin/minnesota around minneapolis/st. paul check out three wheelers on craigslist, there gettin as cheap as $100 for complete perfect running trikes, i think i might have to buy a couple to make some money off of when the price goes back up. but yeah my friend tore the side of the chain case off and the chain just chewed up the case, gonna have to replace it

That is crazy man, Yeah, it really might be a good investment if you can pick up a bunch of cheap ones now.
We usually run them without the chain case even on. The outter part anyway. Just easier to keep an eye on the chain, lube it, and put a new chain on when we have to.
