In its avowed determination to protect the rights of the child, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has signed the Child Rights Act 2008, into law.


The Governor Akpabio signed the new law on Friday, to the admiration of his Executive Council members and top government functionaries.




The new law prescribes among other things, stringent punishment for any person who is found guilty of abusing any citizen of the state below the age of 16. The law prescribes up to 15 years imprisonment without an option of a fine or both for offenders in Child stigmatization, accusation of witchcraft or torture.




The new law also empowers the Government of the state to seal off premises of any organization used to perpetrate child abuse.




To ensure a speedy adjudication of offenders, the law also provides for the setting up of a family court to try suspects.




The State governor chief Akpabio also announced the take over of the catering for children displaced for whatever reason in the state.




He announced the injection of an initial N10,000,000.00 into the child care process.




Governor Akpabio also ordered a comprehensive inventory of children facing unwarranted circumstances in the State and directed relevant bodies to work out long term plans for caring and reintegration of the children.

Meanwhile the self styled Bishop Sunday Ulop aya recently arrested by the police has been paraded before reporters in uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

He denied killing 110 children as earlier quoted,but said he killed 110 witches in the children.
Meanwhile, the State government is to take over the welfare of children displaced and also subjected to any form of abuse in the state.

The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Aniekan Umanah stated this shortly after the executive council meeting last Friday.

He said that the Governor In - Council also announced the injection of an initial N10,000,000 into the child care process.

The Information Boss revealed that the council has ordered a comprehensive inventory of children facing unwarranted circumstances in the State and directed relevant bodies to work out long term plans for caring and reintegration of the children.

According to Mr. Umanah, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, was also directed to work with relevant law enforcement agencies to ensure prosecution of all suspected to be involved in child stigmatization and abuse.

The Commissioner also said that the state executive council was full of appreciation to the State House of Assembly over the speedy passage of the law, adding that their hardwork and wise decision could not have come at a more appropriate time.

The states government spokesman also called on all to join hands with the government in fighting against child abuse and stigmatization in the State.

I watched the full show on tv I could not believe how for so long they got away with using the excuse of witchcraft to get away with torturing and killing children i wanted to jump in the tv and torture the bastard then laugh at him how sick i cried all the way through this just couldnt believe it and the parents OMG any-one even raised there voice to my kids would cop a punch in the face wake up world OMG..wish i could adopt a heap of these precious kids.

even the way he talks and dresses, he is definitely a fake prophet just abusing the the of the Lord. The Bible talkes about fake prophets. He things he is deceiving who with that his fasting. Are there more parts to this video? all I see is that this man kept saying that he did not kill people. He says he fasted and prayed for people, and that he destroyed the "spirit" from out of the body but did not kill the people. It sounds like he is talking about casting out spirits but using the wrong word, or that someone twisted his words. He points to some of the LIVE children he destroyed spirits out of. Is there more to this? why are people saying he killed the kids?
