manual mode is used to set you aperture, shutter, and ISO....
Manual focus is for the lens only....

I think what you're trying to describe is setting your digital camera to be as close to fully manual as possible. But you've misinterpreted the "M" on the dial. Manual mode on the camera- the "M" on the dial- has nothing to do with focus. It allows the user to manually set the shutter speed and aperture. You can use "M" mode with the lens set to automatic focusing. If want to shoot 'manually' then, yes, switch to manual focus. Another thing to play with is the white balance setting...

true, he is not using the "M" manual mode as it was intended, it could be used in manual focusing or auto, but the M is for Shutter and Apperture settings changes, it could be set on manual focus and still be on AV or TV, as well as the auto settings, manual focus is different from Manual Setting
