Star Trek: The Experience - Decommissioning Ceremony

"Star Trek: The Experience" closed its doors last night at approximately 11pm, for the last time after more than a decade running. This video shows the last moments of the ceremony MC'ed by Suzie Plakson at the Las Vegas Hilton September 1, 2008.

The full ceremony included a parade of 160 staff from the venue, from bar & wait staff, administration and management, to the fully-costumed starfleet and alien actors. The whole ceremony ran for a little under 1 hour from 10pm and was filmed for posterity by Paramount Pictures.

Anyone know what they're doing with all the props and Starship models and set pieces etc where's all the stuff going?

Most of it went back to Paramount/CBS. The sets and starships were going to be destroyed, but were saved at the last minute by the owner of Neonopolis where they'll be used again for The Experience when it reopens there next year.

Or something to that general effect. I'd had more than a few Long Island Ice Teas when Vernon (Borg 7 of 16 from The Experience) was relaying the story. ;)

In September 2002 and 2005, I had the honor of attending the STAR TREK EXPERIENCE at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Las Vegas, January 2012, I returned to the NOW Las Vegas Hotel (LVH)

LVH is a pathetic shell of what once was Las Vegas Hilton. What once was STAR TREK EXPERIENCE is now the SPACEQUEST CASINO. The area which once was STE has shades of its former gimmick now toned down to a generic theme.
