Tony Banh and Adam Bent doing some light touch sparring, legs only.

Our first round we just did Thai style front push kick, round kick, and knees back and forth, 1-3 techniques at a time. Adam has been training in boxing for some time, but has had only one Muay Thai class about a week before this. Before we started this, I went through technique with him on a couple of the thai style kicks. Then this second round Adam decided to start following up with no contact punches, then started countering/intercepting kicks, and then tried a ugly hook kick...lol, so then I started to goof off a bit, and then hit em with my favourite, the spinning back kick to the ribs...booyah! Knocked the wind outta ya on that one eh Bentley?

lol...messed up my speach quite a bit in this vid...hopefully I'll get better at this soon.

  • from one amateur to another. a few tips, on your round house kicks: pivot foot should be on your toes, leaving it a bit flat. also rotating your hips while exploding it should come naturally once you get it down.

and your "sig kick" spinning back kick. you needa follow through with your body more. rotate the hips like before. hope your training comes along. gl

  • thanks man...what is your martial arts background? and yah, I've was flat footed that whole training session, and the one I did yesterday (video will be up soon), I just noticed after watching the vids again. Also, the back kick I wasn't really trying...just doing it lazy, cause I didn't wanna actually make contact. Thanks for the comment though.

  • If your going to do light contact sparring like that, you dont need that thick mat, it'll just mess up your kicks!

  • thats som puss ass sparing

  • it's hard to pivot your planting foot on cushy mats.

  • yah I know, fucking bullshit.

  • LAME!

  • you kept getting caught with the push kick because you were coming straight forward. ps if you come forward with a push kick you leave yourself off balance.

  • Yep I agree with Turfomatic also, your guard is too low and open. Your head is always open and your elbows aren't tucked to protect your body. I know this was a light sparring session but those traits get worse in an all out fight when you start to get winded.
