Installing a satellite dish on a Plumb mast (pole). It is very important, specially when you are installing a motorized dish, to make sure that the pole is plumb. You can use a water level, or a Johnson Level Angle Finder like the one used in the video.

This is also important when you are installing a stationary dish.

  • @MrKris72 Type error. It is "Plumb" (vertical). :-)

  • Hopefully you fired the person who thinks a mast should be "PLUMP" as in the video.

  • you will need a 1 5/8" - 2 1/2" diameter pole for standard size dishes.

  • I agree and this is most critical for setting up a motorized dish. If even one degree off, it will impact the signal strength on East or West of your longitude.

  • I use steel poles since I live in a rural area and being sure the pole is plumb before the cement dries is very important. So far I have installed two poles and will put up another one later for a new dish.
