@DanielSuperStereo it's just the same silly "wow they ran out of budget" reaction that Western anime fans have whenever an entire episode gets a unique style as a result of a talented guest animation director taking over. proof that 2ch isn't all that different, just the same type of nerds who might or might not know what they are talking about.

@RaymondoPerson yes I reserched the word Numata in Japanese and found at that in the SUB-language from the Japonic family (or Japanese-Ryukyuan family) it comes from Latin meaning Moneyed or money so to speak. it said so in all upper-caps at Google Tranlate, Furthermore Gurenragan 4-wa numata hashiri,...... or Numata Gurren story ran four, or グレンラガン4話 沼田走り are ALL THE SAME.... in meaning. well, sort of I just can't help but think that you were talikng about something completely different god...

@RaymondoPerson Indeed. As a fan of all kind of animation, this particular style is not my cup of tea, but I can still appreciate it. I remember watching this episode and enjoying the work of what was obviously a guest key animator. Had lots of fun watching his style.

Kobayashi actually corrected Numata's drawings quite a bit here. His original key animation was even more crazy....

I don't see anything really wrong with the animation style here. It is a deliberately rough, loose style of drawing which may not appear well as individual frames, but works as animation. I certainly cannot agree with all the fuss 2ch was making over this...
