"We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, and the day before that, too.
We think of you in silence, and often speak your name. All we have are memories, and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part. God has you in his keeping arms, we have you in our hearts." - Emmy's family.
Emmy-Leigh Maryrose Cole
Emmy came into our world on July 7, 2006 to Michael Lee Cole and Libby St. Pierre in Maine.
She was a tiny little baby but never the less admired by everyone who saw her.
Before bed each night, Emmy's mom would hum to her a song that had been past down from generation to generation and rock her to peaceful sleep.
"Some people only dream of angels... I've held one in my arms" - Libby St. Pierre.
She was a happy baby, who would squeal out of excitement, a special girl who was addicted to Baby Einstein movies.
Mikaila and Mariah, Emmy's two sisters, were always picking her up and dressing her up silly. To Emmy's benefit her older sisters would often sneak her popsicles and cookies while mom was not looking.
Just a baby, yet, allowing herself to only wear pink, she already had the little princess part down to an art.
Emmy was a silly, happy, pretty little girl. Her favourite word was "Wahdat," and was speedy mover in her walker.
As mascot of Auburn Youth Cheering, Emmy's sisters taught her cheering moves and her screams rivalled that of any other cheerleaders'.
She was her Pepere Louly's and Memere Jeannie's pride and joy.
Spoiled with kisses from Memere Jeannie and learning about birds on nature walks with Pepere Louly, Emmy was a blissful little girl.
March 22 2007 was like any ordinary day. Libby had left Emmy with Todd Gamache, someone who had watched Emmy before.
About 30 minutes later Libby returned to find Emmy unconscious. Emmy was brought by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center.
On the ride to the hospital, Emmy's heart stopped. The medical staff were able to get her heart started again.
Emmy was then air lifted to Maine Medical Center. She was placed on life-support.
The little girl had suffered internal injuries blunt force head trauma and skull fractures in three places.
On March 23, 2007
8 moth old Emmy was pronounced brain dead.
With tears, love, sadness and despair Emmy's family decided to take their precious child off life support
Emmy-Leigh Maryrose Cole went to heaven on March 24, 2007.
Todd Gamache plead guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 14 years in prison and 4 years of probation.
