I am from Whakatane..Born in rotorua, and lived most of my childhood in the bay of Plenty...I lived in edgecumbe on the outskirts of whakatane..it's a small farming town..with just a few locals..But believe me, it is..everything you see..it's not just the place that's magical..but the locals..that give it the vibe..to make you go back for more..Friendly..people, that will take the time to greet you with a kia Ora..or a hello..! ......love it!!!!

I lived in Whakatane for 1 month last year and I loved it, nice town, lovely weather! The place one would choose to live! or at least the one I would choose to live!

I'm an Aussie and visited this region on my trip to NZ in 2007. It is one on NZ's best areas and drop dead gorgeus. John Rowles was born here after WW2 and grew up in nearby Kawerau.
