The Caissons Go Rolling Along - Palmer Hughes Accordion Course, Book 2, Page 10 for Accordion Accordéon Acordeón Akkordeon Akordeon Harmonika Fisarmonica Acordeão Акордеон Аккордеон
I have today another grueling exercise in "Alternate Basses". I think it is good that the Palmer Hughes course gives a number of practice pieces to help me master this important concept on the accordion.
At this point Palmer Hughes mentions how the first beat of every measure should have a slight accent. From now on in these videos I will try to achieve this. It is an important feature of music. The US School of Music gives the same advice in Lesson 8. They feel it so important that they recommend to repeat all previous work with an accented beat in mind. My experience is on the piano, where such accents are created by pressing harder on the keys. But on the accordion it is achieved by action of the bellows. I am finding this difference particularly challenging. It may be a while before my playing properly exhibits this requirement.
