I'm straight and Christian, and have come to the belief that homosexuality is not wrong. I am starting to feel called to speak out. There need to be more straight Christians who are willing to affirm and celebrate our gay brothers and sisters. But I'm hesitant to speak out. I know that if I brought this up at my prayer group, I'd meet with a lot of resistance.
But I realize that you don't share the luxury I have to keep silent, so for your sake, I will pray for the strength to speak out.

It's important to realize that Christianity as it is practiced is an ORGANIZED RELIGION, meaning DESIGNED by PEOPLE. Gay men in particular are pretty well equipped to develop an understanding of things spiritual, and it is beyond me why they should listen to the Vatican or sermons based on protestant legalistic DOCTRINES. The church has been invaded by wolves since ages.
Seems to me the issue here is a mix-up between seeking SOCIAL acceptance and spiritual life. Church IS NOT spiritual.

Well said. My experience is similar in many ways. I still find it emotionally painful to attend worship services because of all the bad associations. How can I feel at home in a church that has taught me to hate myself? A stumbling block has been placed in the path of my spiritual journey. There are still days when I feel that Christians are hateful and unforgiving.
I like your Christ. But I dot not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ.

Eric, your sensitivity and sincerity make of you a very attractive human being, a gem in this unforgiving world.

Well said. Churches shouldn't exclude people.
