I entered a Mary Rockett-style milk punch in the Dole Cocktail Contest held at the 2010 Ohana: Luau At The Lake tiki festival in Lake George, NY. Although milk punches date back to at least 1711 in colonial Boston, they are hard to come by today. (The best place to try one—or a few—is at Drink, a craft cocktail bar near the Boston Children's Museum, which is where I learned about them).
My milk punch uses Batavia Arrack as its base, and was infused with Dole Pineapple, whole Tahitian vanilla beans, and freshly grated ginger.
Although I didn't win the contest, my milk punch was a favorite amongst 3 of the 5 judges. (I didn't use enough Dole products nor the product of another sponsor, who I wasn't aware of, to get the points needed for "use of a sponsor product").
Many thanks to Captain Quad and Hi-Fi Hijinx who made the video recording of this presentation (my first!) possible, and to John Gertsen's team at Drink for teaching me about milk punches!

Randy Wong is President and Founder of WAITIKI INTERNATIONAL LLC, a global consulting firm for tiki (exotica) music, mixology, and events. A musician by day and cocktail enthusiast by night, Mr. Wong's original "Chee-Hoo Fizz" cocktail was presented by John Gertsen & Pierre Ferrand Cognac at the 2010 Cocktails Spirits expo in Paris.
Also known for its award-winning and critically-acclaimed music, WAITIKI INTERNATIONAL is best known for The WAITIKI 7, a modern exotica ensemble styled after Martin Denny's and Arthur Lyman's classic bands. The WAITIKI 7 made exotica history when its first album, Adventures In Paradise, peaked at #2 on the JW World Top-40, and was acclaimed by JAZZIZ for its "improvisational firepower" and by The Gig columnist Nate Chinen as "the band to beat." WAITIKI INTERNATIONAL also lists The Kahiki Serenaders on its artist roster, along with the original WAITIKI quartet, and the ultra-hip Exotica Pops Orchestra.

Aloha!
Great presentation. Love the cinnamon smoke idea. I'm gonna "borrow" that for sure. Wish I could have tasted it, but I'll have to make one myself sometime.
