@ForceMaximus84 Yes, Jane Leeves got her start on Benny Hill before coming to America. I can't believe how young she looked here. She was a cutie! Not used to seeing her half naked though. Kinda weird. It is great to see her in other things besides Frasier though.

I am a die hard feminist, but I love Benny Hill. Those who speak of "sexist jokes" are either simply jealous or totally paranoid. His "sexist jokes" told the truth about what men think of women and how they want to treat. Benny Hill exposed that, and I think men didn't appreciate. And this makes Benny Hill in my eyes a feminist.
RIP Mr Hill

@smudgsmith I found it interesting that people at Thames (the one that sacked him used to work at the BBC) wanted to make Mr Bean instead and round that time we started seeing Ben Elton go on chat shows dissing Bennys show by making out it was him chasing women (was other way round mostly actually) and then linking that inaccuracy to advocating rape etc no doubt doing him a nice bit of damage and Ben Elton is of course a good mate of Rowan Atkinson from the BBC's Blackadder days, mind boggles

The thing about Monty Python is it took 6 guys to write the material. And it wasn't all funny (see the dastardly Ballooning episode without John Cleese, or 2/3 of Meaning of Life).
Benny's comedy wasn't subtle. It kept hitting you and hitting you until you couldn't catch your breath. The girls? Eye candy. So what.
You still can see the genius in what he writes, the skits, the songs/poems, and the visuals.
Sorry, punch for punch I have to give it to Benny over Python.

i WAS.
Benny was a genius and legend. From the 50s to the 90s that humble genius made the whole world laugh. He is know today as a comedian who relied on sexist and lewd jokes and its simply not true. He was a total pioneer in TV. The BBC hold the rights to his early work and should be shamed for not releasing it on DVD to show the world what a total genius this man was. And Thames TV should hang their head in total shame for sacking him in the early 90s. RIP Benny Hill you very funny man and best ever
