Woah, wait a minute. The HBO Cannon music is the same as the Thorm/EMI Video theme, HBO/Cannon must have be the US equivelent for them then.

I have this logo on an autographed copy of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". Signed by Ken Kesey. Very cool. Had no idea people were into this sort of thing. Neat.

@sizzleboy10 I just got a VHS of Nothing in Common and it has the HBO/Cannon Video logo on the box but on the tape label it has the 1988 HBO Video logo and when you start it up it has the 1988 HBO Video logo but what's really weird is the fact that the Coming Soon from HBO/Cannon Video bumper plays afterwards. Has anyone else noticed that?

According to Wikipedia, Thorn EMI joined HBO in 1985, and then Cannon bought Thorn EMI's video library in 1986. Don't know if that answers your question, though.
