I'm in love with this song and the artwork. I'm definitely going to to the expo{whatever) in Philly feb. 1- 3mths! Maybe I'll see some of u other fans. Hey; but, he did not kill himself. He took the blame for some hoolagin kids messing with a gun.....but ,he was resdy to go and didn't want to screw up their lives....no joke ...for real... check out the Charlie Rose interwiew w autobiographers. It rings truer.

can this be considered as poetry? if yes,..why?

@Geodude123man Seconded.

This is what I call "The Convergence of Genius". You have the brilliant songwriting of Don McLean combined with the artistic divinity of Vincent Van Gogh. Who would have thought such a wonderful combination could ever happen?

a great song!!

I'm reading Vincent - The Life, about Van Gogh. He & those he knew wrote many, many letters, & it gives a window into his life. I'm only 300 pages into a 900 page book, but it's clear his life was very difficult. He felt rejected by his family & friends & all his life fought hard to win their acceptance & love. It's heart-breaking. And yet he prayed his art would speak to people. So when McLean sings, "Now I understand, What you tried to say to me...." it's like a vindication for Vincent.

This makes me well up every time.

how can anybody dislike this?

Saw Don McLean tonight 28th Feb 2011, at the Esplanade Concert Hall Singapore. Love this song even if he sang it at a slower tempo. What a night!!

What a fantastic production! The song has always given me chills. With your video expertise and obvious artistic flair you have enhanced this exquisite and powerful song and made it into a feast for the eye as well as for the ear. You have created a masterpiece of your very own. I can't imagine a more beautiful presentation for Vincent's timeless art and Don McLean's timeless musical poetry. Well done.
