I am amazed by the bond parents of autistic children have with their children and each other. I was touched by their tenderness as well as their strength so I wrote this song from my own observations. The song should be played slower but I was battling feedback and tried to get through it before the ringing began. The song is also bit out of my vocal range and yes the fadeout is real. Otherwise, like all the others it is still a work in process. 3B

Lyrics:
Special That's what we've heard
Special That's just a word
That does not begin to describe
Your special nature deep inside

I see what you've taught me
Opened up eternity
God poured a soul into
A precious child to make the world brand new

Wouldn't trade the world for a day
Go back any other way
Certain it's the way it should be
Right here just you and me

Chorus:
I know these years will be tough
At times I may blame myself
But I know you'll always be
Right there to help me see
The wonderful person God made you to be

It's ok - to grieve
It's ok - to believe
To hope and to pray
And to feel relief today
Futures - uncertainty
Worry about the normal things
Loneliness uninvited birthdays
But heres a chance let's get out and play

Chorus

Someday they might understand
Or maybe they won't but 'til then
The world without you
I can't imagine

If they could only know
The love that's pure as new snow
The laughter yes and the tears
All of their pity would disappear

Special That's what we've heard
Special That's just a word
That does not begin to describe
Your special nature deep inside
