Hi Delia,

I'd had both pierced almost five years ago. I took them out...for some reason...before my first three month checkup. When I tried to put them back in the next morning, they had both closed up to the point where it would have been extremely difficult/painful to put them back in. So, I left them out. I was also worried that they might retard my development in some way, but that wasn't based on any sort of facts or evidence.

I am, at the age of 58, in the early stages of transition, taking hormones, and starting, this next semester, to dress full time, which I'm nervously excited about. Now, I do not have pierced nipples, but my breasts are very tender. I know how you must be feeling!
