Me playing James P. Johnson's 1920s hit 'The Charleston'. Apart from being a dance-number, this was also a song.

Lyrics:

Charleston, Charleston,
Made in Carolina,
Some dance, some prance,
I'll say, that there's nothing finer than the...

Charleston, Charleston,
Boy, how you can shuffle,
Every step you do,
Leads to something new,
Man, I'm telling you,
It's a lopazoo!

Buck dance,
Wing dance,
We'll be your back-number,

Oh the Charleston,
The new Charleston,
That dance is surely a comer,

Sometime, you'll dance it one time,
The dance called the Charleston,
Made in South Caroline.

  • Another excellent performance! Hey do you know what it means to subscribe, and how do I subscribe? I kind of new to youtube. Tks for all the good music!

  • Thanks. When you subscribe to someone's channel, it means that you get notifications from them whenever they upload a new video. To subscribe to someone, just find the 'SUBSCRIBE' button (A big orangey-yellow button), and press it.

  • I think i buggered it up slightly near the end, but all the chords are right. I completely memorise all pieces I play.

  • can u give me the tabs/chords for this?

  • Very nice work man. I love the song and dance.

  • just wanted to let you know I used this as the music for the begining of my "how to do the charleston" video. And wanted to say thank you.

  • awesome!

  • this was pretty good, but you shouldn't use the sustain pedal and it really should be alot quicker

  • Good job. I'd like to see the full version of this song.

  • Very good effort, but could be a lot crisper. Try it without sustaining pedal or at least cut back on it a lot. Try sostenuto pedal for bass sustain.
