Sandra Massart from Belgium suffers from the metabolic lethal disease 'Metachromatic Leukodystrofie' (MLD). In January 2008, Danish company Zymenex A/S offered her parents a new therapy costing 1.080.000 Euro, delivered within 2 days. Through a mediacampaign, Belgian fellow citizens made the money available. Meanwhile UK based Shire Plc bought the therapy and refused selling it, claiming they don't have enough stock for even one extra patient, leaving Sandra to die.
